flowers under glass
Although the designs by Raf Simons were the reason for the show, of course, and they were glorious and ladylike, I can’t stop staring at the flowers designed by Mark Colle, an Anthwerp-based florist, for the Fall 2012 Jil Sander collection. Encased in lucite boxes, Colle’s arrangements feel like modern day Dutch still lifes. Couldn’t you imagine these on display at a museum wedding?

This is just a little bite size inspiration board. I love the ocre with the deep scarlet red. Who says you have to wear a white dress on your wedding day? The floral ball gown pictured here is just so lovely. And look at Peonie’s beautiful red shoes – they’re such an exclamation point.
Wouldn’t this wedding, with its dramatic color palette, be gorgeous in the Marble Hall at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts? The museum will be such a gorgeous venue when construction is completed next year.
