colorful fun wedding bouquet

One of the questions I’m asked most during rehearsals or just before ceremonies by a bride or maid who wants to make sure she’s getting it just right is, “how should I hold my bouquet?”. Just remember the belly button rule: hold your bouquet lower than you think it should be — usually at or around your belly button. Bouquets look best carried lower than you think they should be!

Bright, colorful and fun flowers to start the holiday week…

bright, fun, colorful flowers

I put the bouquet above together for a client’s mother for mother’s day. Nearly all of the blooms were sourced from local gardens, which makes the arrangement all that much more special, I think. And, with the leftovers, I put a little something together for myself…

spring flowers inspiration

Just a peek of an arrangement I put together yesterday using camellia, quince, pear tree blossoms, daffodils and bells of ireland — many of the flowers were gathered from our yard. This is my favorite time of year, when the quince, daffodils and camellias are in bloom and the buds on the spring trees are beginning to open!

garland runner

Whether they’re made of bay leaf, laurel or magnolia leaves and whether they’re complemented by dahlia, garden roses or fruit, runners always look so lush and romantic.

I love these mothers’ bouquets that Chelsea Fuss of Frolic! styled and photographed for Project Wedding. Posies, also called nosegays, are such a sweet and modern alternative to corsages or wrislets. Whether a diminutive version of a bridesmaid’s bouquet or a small clutch of flowers that coordinate with wedding colors, posies can be carried by mothers, grandmothers, even flower girls.

"fall wedding inspiration"

I think fall might be my favorite time of year, and nothing is better than autumn in Charlottesville, Virginia, where we shot this table last year.
