"vintage sheet music"

This is a fun little installation we did for clients of ours who hosted their reception at Crittenden Studio last month. Natalie’s husband, Lincoln, is a musician and her only request was that we incorporate sheet music somewhere in the design, so we thought this wall of flowers would be a great backdrop for the band. To see more from Natalie & Lincoln’s wedding, pop over to The Inspired Bride!

Chris + Emily, Richmond

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Emily carried her great-grandmother’s handkerchief. The same handkerchief was carried by her mother and her sister at their weddings.

A gift to the couple – a ring dish from Paloma’s Nest.

Ceremony flowers were made with cream roses, bronze orchids, green hydrangea, hypericum berries, dusty miller and silvery ferns.

A small afternoon wedding with close family and friends at Studio 418 in downtown Richmond was followed later in the evening with a big party and a larger guest list.

Petite fours and champagne were served following the afternoon ceremony.

Emily used a fern motif throughout the wedding, which was inspired in part by this Michelle Rago arrangement.

She ordered dried maidenhair fern, spray painted it silver and created an arrangement inspired by the one above.

Emily and Chris ordered two sets of invitations in the same style: one formal invitation for ceremony guests and another set for evening reception guests.

Emily made her wedding programs on simple white paper she found at a craft store and embellished them with a fern stamp we found at Michael’s. Chris and Emily signed each program – a really sweet and personal touch.

Presents for the wedding party were wrapped in brown paper and embellished with the fern motif and materials Emily used in the arrangements for the reception.

The reception was held at Crittenden Studios in the Corrugated Box Building, a really beautiful industrial space in Richmond’s Manchester District.

Because the ceremony was at 2:30 and the reception was at 7:30, Chris and Emily had time in between to take portraits around Richmond, like this one on the steps in the Corrugated Box Building.

Emily made arrangements using smoke bush, penny plants and curly willow she collected from the yards of friends and family. The arrangements were anchored in river rocks she found at the Dollar Store.

Sweetest Thing Bakery made several cakes for the reception embellished with silver details.

Weeks before the wedding, Emily and her photographer, Nick Kessler, found some amazing locations in Richmond to take portraits.
