obsessed with color
This year is no doubt the year of color! Loving all of the bright & happy spring arrangements we’ve been seeing lately.

weather & weddings
Usually the first thing people think of with outdoor weddings is rain. The next thing they think of in Virginia is heat. Don’t forget wind though when you’re planning.
Wind blows table cards all over the place, knocks down floral arrangements & carries table numbers away. Floral arrangements should be substantial enough that they won’t blow over in the breeze (whether its a natural breeze or one caused by the fans in your tent, which create air circulation that’s no joke.). Table cards, buffet cards & table numbers should be secure.
We created this table card display for Megan’s wedding last weekend. It was constructed on-site, made with moss & styrofoam. We used spray adhesive to secure the moss and used green floral picks to anchor the cards. The cards on their own wouldn’t have stood a chance outdoors.
happy flowers
I’ve never really given much thought to spider mums (beauty above by Rosenow Floral Design), but when a client asked for floral inspiration of the happy but not girly variety, spider mums came to mind. They’re so cheerful and look a little bit like tiny fireworks, don’t they? And, of course, billy buttons (below via weddingbee) are always fun and quirky.
