Although outdoor events come with  unique sets of logistical considerations (that’s another post or ten for another day), they truly are the most fun to plan. What’s better than being outdoors, sky above you, yummy food upon your plate, surrounded by the ones you love? Nothing, I’m quite sure!

Just a peek of an arrangement I put together yesterday using camellia, quince, pear tree blossoms, daffodils and bells of ireland — many of the flowers were gathered from our yard. This is my favorite time of year, when the quince, daffodils and camellias are in bloom and the buds on the spring trees are beginning to open!

Although the designs by Raf Simons were the reason for the show, of course, and they were glorious and ladylike, I can’t stop staring at the flowers designed by Mark Colle, an Anthwerp-based florist, for the Fall 2012 Jil Sander collection. Encased in lucite boxes, Colle’s arrangements feel like modern day Dutch still lifes. Couldn’t you imagine these on display at a museum wedding?

I’ve been busy gathering blue and white china floral vases and accent pieces for our clients, Nina and Adam; their wedding is just a few short weeks away. This is always the most fun time for me — seeing everything come together. Of course, the day before and the day of the wedding when we’re installing is the very best, but I love the anticipation that comes with this time in planning. The pieces we’re collecting are destined to become decor in Nina and Adam’s new home, which makes the act of collecting them all that much more special!

Loving these “happy notes” recently added to the Tokketok shop. Joke is such a talented designer and her blog is full of clever d.i.y. projects. Always so excited to see what she’s crafting!
