All wrapped up!
I’m so happy to have a special guest blogger here today. Brittany started working with Merriment last year as an intern and continues to assist on event days. When she said she’d be interested in guest blogging, I took her up on it immediately, of course! Hoping to see much more of her around here. Today she has a great gift wrapping idea just in time for Mother’s Day.
I love the idea of using fabric for wrapping gifts. Not only is it clever and eco-friendly, it can be two gifts in one if you use tea towels or a vintage scarf. To secure the ends, tie them in a simple knot or secure them with a cute pin, button, or pretty ribbon to give the package an extra special touch. Also see more wrapping techniques here. Add a personal element to your wedding by wrapping small favor boxes in monogrammed cloth napkins or vintage fabric scraps.

Things I took away from the Royal Wedding
In no certain order….
Gigantic boutonnières are a no. Please note how dapper and sophisticated Mr. Middleton looks with his diminutive boutonniere.
Sleeves are always stunning, and surprisingly original, given how popular the strapless white wedding gown is.
Wedding parties look fabulous in white.
You don’t always have to wear your hair up, despite what your mother might say. And, by your mother, I mean my mother. ; )
Classic always wins: green and white flowers, lily of the valley, white wedding shoes, weddings with decorum, and on and on…you get the picture.
And, other things, for which I don’t have pictures.
*Don’t rush your reading! If James Middleton can deliver a reading in front of the entire world without rushing, so too can you!
*Be on time! British punctuality warms my heart.
*Simplicity is elegance.
*Don’t raise your glass when people toast to you. Did you note that the Queen did not taking part in singing “God Save the Queen?” That’s because it was being sung to her.

A Survivor’s Breakfast
I’ve read that Price Harry is hosting a 6am “survivor’s breakfast” for anyone who survives the late night (and early morning) festivities following the Royal Wedding. Brunch parties are always fun, but they’re an especially charming way to punctuate a weekend of wedding merriment!

royally beautiful illustations
I love these fun and modern Royal Wedding souvenirs designed by The House That Lars Built — pretty enough to inspire your own wedding logo and paper goods, perhaps?

An Easter Lunch in London
I really can’t wait to see more tablescape designs from Remodelista. This Easter table, a collaboration with Gwyneth Paltrow, introduced the series.

we’re having a baby!
If you’ve noticed that things have been slower around here than usual, posts are late or they don’t come at all, that’s because we’re having a baby! Managing the first three months and getting ready for wedding season….it’s felt like a marathon. Things will stay strictly weddings & entertaining over here. I have no intention of blogging baby, but baby showers? Have you seen the new issue of Martha? And the Mother Goose baby shower? I’m not a themey kind of gal, but it’s super cute. Above, invitations with clip art you can download at MSL by Anna Bond of Rifle Design introduce the theme of the party. Below, “goldilox” tea sandwiches, Humpty Dumpty custard cups and Baker’s Man brownies continue the Mother Goose theme.
