a visit to mr. boddington’s studio
When I was in New York a few weeks ago for the J. Crew bridal store opening, I had the pleasure of visiting Rebecca, the founder of Mr. Boddington’s Studio. I’m a confessed Mr. Boddington’s devotee and couldn’t have been more delighted & inspired by her studio and the story of its beginning.
Rebecca left a job in middle eastern conflict resolution to open Mr. Boddington’s. She said, “My weekends were gobbled up in front of the computer designing fonts and researching papers in southern Italy… just for fun. My husband warmly suggested that I quit my day job (middle eastern conflict resolution) and start a stationery studio. The concept of doing something I love (I mean really love…like eating chocolate brownies love) and making a living from it was bizarre…I tried and haven’t looked back.”

Mr. Boddington’s style, Rebecca said, “…leans towards old school New England prep with a heavy hand in the blithe. We love to be inspired by anything vintage…not just the scrolly embellishments and peony woodcuts of the late 1900s but also mid-century fonts, bright pinks from the 80s, minuteman typography from the US constitution…”

Thank you for inviting me to the studio Rebecca! Hoping to see you again soon!

If there's one thing I adore besides cooking it's stationery and beautiful paper. I remember I used to visit my aunt's printing press as a child I would ask for samples of whatever they print. fun!
It looks just as pretty and fun as I've imagined (if not more)! Thanks for the sneak peek! xx!
Wow! What an amazingly creative space. Thank you for a look inside!
Oh thank you! the peek was fun….smiles.
